On Monday May 4, Long Beach Opera launches a series of daily live shows that include performances, conversations, and interviews featuring a diverse array of LBO artists.

Long Beach Opera celebrates two milestones in the 2018-2019 season - its fortieth anniversary and the 20th anniversary of Andreas Mitisek leading the company as artistic director. 

Long Beach Opera (LBO) presents the co-world premiere of 'The Invention of Morel,' by Stewart Copeland, co-founder and drummer of The Police, and the London-based actor, director and playwright Jonathan Moore, who also directs the production. LBO Artistic & General Director Andreas Mitisek conducts the opera.

Long Beach Opera's production of The Black Cat scheduled for January 13, 20 and 21, has been postponed to the 2018-2019 to resolve logistical challenges to bring this production to the United States. Long Beach Opera (LBO) continues its 2015/16 season with Francis Poulenc's emotional and passionate La Voix Humaine at the Federal Bar's Underground Club, 102 Pine Avenue, Long Beach. The opera will be directed by LBO's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by Krystof Van Grysperre. Seven performances of La Voix Humaine begin April 8 and run through April 17.

Like many veterans returning from combat, the opera's central character struggles to come to terms with the violence he has experienced and to reconnect the broken bonds to his family and friends.

Surpassing its fundraising goal, Long Beach Opera's 37th Annual Gala raised over $210,000 to support its 2016 opera season and Youth Initiative Programs. Honorary Co-Chairs Barbara Bixby Blackwell and Jean Bixby Smith, along with LBO's Board of Directors, presented the fundraiser, 'Glittering Glamorous Giving,' on Saturday November 7, 2015 in the Lagunita Pavilion at the Hotel Maya, Long Beach.
