The Art for the Soul Exhibit at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center opens tonight. Put some art in your soul with works by nine of the finest African-American artists, including 20th and 21st century masters Raymond Lark and Charles Bibbs. The exhibit, curated by Utah art collector Gordon Dew, will be on display at the Cultural Center through March 1, 2011.

Lifeline Theatre's KidSeries presents a musical adaptation of SOMEBODY LOVES YOU, MR. HATCH, based on the popular children's book by Eileen Spinelli, illustrated by Paul Yalowitz (©1991 by Eileen Spinelli, Simon & Schuster, Inc.). The production is adapted by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Frances Limoncelli, music and lyrics by George Howe, and directed by Ann Boyd. Dull and predictable Mr. Hatch had always lived an isolated life until one Valentine's Day, when an unexpected delivery transforms the town's most unsociable hermit into everyone's favorite friend. Share in a heartwarming tale of companionship and acceptance, as Mr. Hatch's neighbors get to know the mysterious man next door. This production is appropriate for children ages five and up, and runs approximately one hour with no intermission. The book and cast recording CDs will be on sale in the lobby.

Fantasia Barrino has been announced to play the staring role in an upcoming film adaptation of the 1993 book Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The screenplay for the movie was written by Jim Evering, and Euzhan Palcy will serve as director.

FAB Cafe, the artists' cafe in the East 4th Street Cultural District, is planning a sweet surprise to celebrate the opening week of New York Theatre Workshop's musical Peter and the Starcatcher. FAB Cafe will celebrate its new concession partnership with New York Theatre Workshop by offering delicious mini-cupcakes from the Lower East Side Girls Club's Sweet Things Bakeshop starting February 18, 2011. Cupcakes will be sold for $1 and will be available in the theater's lobby during performances and at the Cafe's main location at 75 East 4th Street. For kids, it doesn't get better - an entertaining, exciting show hand in hand with sweets.

But Robert J. Orchard at the Paramount Center is trying something new with his show 'The Color of Rose.' He's putting audience tweets on the marquee outside.
