The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and the Irish Youth Choir collaborate for the first time in Wexford Opera House on Saturday, July 3 at 8pm performing the classical masterpiece, Brahms' Requiem.

The 100 choir members and the 60-strong orchestra will be a powerful force as they take to the stage in performances alongside Ireland's premiere soprano Cara O'Sullivan and renowned Irish baritone Owen Gilhooly.

Although young of age the members of the National Youth Orchestra and Irish Youth Choir are already stars in their own right, their talent and virtuoso abilities surpassing many twice their age. Cara's concert career and operatic engagements have taken her all over the world, spanning an impressive and wide-ranging repertoire. The Irish Times referred to her as "The Irish Superstar of her generation". No stranger to Wexford Opera House, Owen Gilhooly has performed numerous roles to critical acclaim as part of Wexford Festival Opera on many occasions, and will perform in this year's Festival in the European premiere of The Golden Ticket.

Later in July, The Irish Chamber Orchestra, said to be, ‘the best orchestra in this country by far' by the Sunday Tribune, comes to the Wexford Opera House for the first time on Friday, July 16th at 8pm, fresh from a major tour of China and Singapore. Irish Chamber Orchestra leader Katherine Hunka teams up with popular Irish accordion virtuoso Dermot Dunne for a fun programme that includes pieces from Mozart, Vivaldi and the sensuous tangos of Piazzolla.

Both concerts will be performed in the award-winning O'Reilly Theatre in Wexford Opera House, deemed to have some of the best acoustics in world, giving audiences full appreciation of these two classical concerts.

Tickets are priced at €20/15 and €10 for children. Tickets for both events can be booked online at www.wexfordoperahouse.ie, or by calling the box-office on 053 912 2144. No booking fee applies.
