Patricia Racette will sing the title role of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on Tuesday, March 3 and Saturday, March 7 matinee, replacing Cristina Gallardo-Domâs who is ill. The March 7 performance will be transmitted live to movie theaters in 36 countries around the world as part of The Met: Live in HD series.
Racette is a renowned interpreter of Madama Butterfly and has sung the role in the Met’s production 13 times, including performances earlier this season in October and November. The rest of the cast remains as scheduled with Patrick Summers conducting, Maria Zifchak as Suzuki, Marcello Giordani as Pinkerton, and Dwayne Croft as Sharpless.
