Metropolis Opera Project presents The 2nd Annual One Act Festival, April 8th thru 10th at Medicine Show Theatre. The festival will feature Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Award winner, Sheldon Harnick's rarely performed opera Frustration as well as the world premiere productions of The Nightingale and the Rose by Benjamin Scheuer (Jihad! The Musical), Obesa Cantavit: The Tale Of A Music Legend And The Sandwich Who Loved Her by Larry Lees (Sixteen Days, Jonestown The Musical) and Crossing the Straits by Christopher Sahar.

This second annual festival presentation will feature performers to include Bruce Warren (The Road to Qatar), Joe Jung (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jendi Tarde (H.M.S. Pinafore, Knickerbocker Holiday) and Constantine Germanacos (TheatreWorks The Light in the Piazza). The four operas will be directed by David Chapman, Audrey Ellis, Zachary James and Dontee Kiehn, featuring the design team of Adrianna Desier Durantt, Tamara Kopko, Pat Marcus and Dotty Petersen. The Metropolis Opera Project One Act Festival company will include J. David Anderson, Nathan Baer, Michael Bowen, Jessica Bowers, Eddie Cooper, Tiffany Engen, Claire Epstein, Karla Faggard, Catherine Freeman, Danny Gardner, Nicole Intravia, Alex Krasser, Adam Lendermon, Amanda Morton, Megan Nelson and Bryan Plofsky, with musicians Adam Bloniarz, Kiersten Cunningham and Aaron Kotler.

The One Act Festival will be held at Medicine Show THEATRE (549 West 52nd Street) April 8th, 9th and 10th, 2011 with 8:00pm performances Friday through Sunday and a 3:00pm matinee on Sunday. $10 tickets may be purchased through SmartTix.
