Puccini's "Far West" Opera will be performed for the Prince's Festival, from 19 to 25 November 2012. In "La Fanciulla del West," Giacomo Puccini depicts the life of pioneers in the Great West.
Although it is set in the gold rush, Puccini's seventh opera is first and foremost a love story. The "Fanciulla" appears to us today as an exciting sung western worthy of Hollywood, but above all a wonderful portrait of an exceptional woman in the midst of a ruthless masculine world.
The opera performs at the Monte-Carlo Opera at the Grimaldi Forum, Monday 19 November – 8 pm (by invitation from the Palace), Thursday 22 November 2012 – 8 pm and Sunday 25 November 2012 – 3 pm.
