Grand Opera of Belarus to Perform MADAM BUTTERFLY, March 2-3

Puccini's Madam Butterfly, which comes to the Wyvern Theatre on Sat 2 March, is the magnificent story of a trusting Japanese maiden that catches the attention and affections of an American officer. In order to become his bride she must cross cultural boundaries and defy the will of her family. Alone, she faithfully awaits his return. However, she has a serious dilemma at her hands. Madam Butterfly is a deeply tragic and gripping opera that will truly affect its spectator.

The lucky child has been chosen to portray the child of Madam Butterfly. Dino Fisher-Stephens, aged 10, started dancing at Swindon Dance when he was old enough to walk and has performed as part of Swindon Dance's all boys group D-Boyz at the Royal Ballet School for the past 2 years. Dino also attends weekly acting classes with Swindon Young Actors.

The National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus opened 3in 1933 and quickly gained an exceptional reputation for its high quality and professionalism. The theatre toured the most prestigious stages in the former Soviet Union, including the honourable, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. It gained the honorary "Bolshoi" status in 1940, (translated "Grand") and was given the title "Academic" in 1964. The theatre has continuously toured around the world, and visited more than 30 countries over the past fifteen years. The Grand Opera of Belarus presents two opera classics for your enjoyment this spring. Expect an unforgettable experience!

Grand Opera of Belarus will perform on Sat 2 March and Sun 3 March at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon. On Sat 2 March the company will present Puccini's La Boheme and on Sun 3 March will perform Madam Butterfly.
