Dicapo Opera Theatre will present the world premiere of veteran American opera composer Thomas Pasatieri's The Martyrs with six performances beginning Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. Subsequent presentations take place Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11, Thursday and Friday, November 15 and 16, and Sunday, November 18. Thursday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and the final performance on Sunday at 4 p.m.Starring the Catherine Malfitano as Marianne and Zeffin Quinn Hollis as Percy, The Martyrs, with a libretto by Daphne Malfitano, tells the stories of two quintessentially American antiheroes, each seeking justice but vilified by their rural societies, forcing them to live-or die-as modern-day martyrs.All performances are at Dicapo Opera Theatre, 184 East 76th Street at Lexington Avenue.
