Amore Opera Presents LA BOHEME, 12/14

Amore Opera Presents LA BOHEME, 12/14

This Winter, Amore Opera revives its classic production of Puccini's timeless masterpiece La Bohème. This production launched the company's inaugural season, and its revival promises to be equally riveting. La Boheme is an opera in four acts, with libretto by Luigi Illica. Based on Scènes de la Vie de Bohème by Henri Murger, it is the story of a group of young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840's, and the tragic tale of two lovers doomed by circumstance and illness. La Bohème is fully staged with full orchestra and presented in its original Italian (with subtitles).

Amore Opera's production will be directed once again by Nathan Hull, and Gregory Ortega, who led the orchestra for last season's production of La Traviata, will conduct. Maestro Ortega has conducted with most of the major small opera companies in New York City, Boston and Florida, including New Rochelle Opera, Treasure Coast Opera and New York Concert Artists, in addition to having founded The Hunter College Opera Theater. Director Nathan Hull staged this season's Don Pasquale and the critically acclaimed American Debut of Olivo e Pasquale. He also directed last season's successful American premiere of I due Figaro.

Amore Opera will round out its winter offering with an "Opera-in-Brief" presentation of La Bohème. These ever popular, 90-minute performances of abridged works are geared towards young audiences and families, and are a great way to introduce children to the splendor of operatic performances. (Please note that due to the Hurricane, the production of "Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan" has been delayed until Dec. 2013).

Additionally, Amore will host its annual New Year's Eve gala. In addition to a ticket to the evening's performance of La Bohème, the gala includes hors d'oeuvres, dinner between acts, a champagne toast at midnight, and a special post-midnight concert.

All performances are at the Connelly Theater (220 East 4th Street), located on the South Side of East 4th Street between Avenues A & B. The closest subway is the F train at 2nd Avenue-Houston Street, 1st Avenue exit.

General admission is $40.00 and $30.00 for students and seniors. Tickets for the New Year's Eve Gala are $125. All tickets for the Opera-in-Briefs are $15.00.

Tickets can be purchased directly on the Amore Opera website at www.amoreopera.org or by calling 1-888- 811-4111.
